Save Final Photo: OverviewUpdated 4 hours ago

The Save Final Photo step tells FMX to actually save the finished photo for the current session at a specific point in your workflow.
It runs silently in the background – nothing new appears on screen for guests.

What Is the Save Final Photo Step?
From the workflow point of view, Save Final Photo:

  • Takes the current final photo in the session (after layouts, AI effects, overlays, filters, signatures, etc.)

  • Saves it as the official final image for that guest

  • Makes sure there is only one final photo per session

  • Runs instantly and continues to the next step

From the guest’s perspective:

  • They don’t see a new screen when this step runs

  • Their experience simply continues – for example, to Email, QR, SMS, or Print

  • All their choices from Preview (which photo, which filter, signature, etc.) are the ones that get saved

When Should You Use Save Final Photo?
Use a Save Final Photo step when you want to control exactly when the final image is saved.

Typical reasons:

  • You have sharing steps (Email, SMS, QR) that run before the very end of the workflow

  • You want cloud upload or galleries to start using the photo immediately after approval

  • Your workflow branches in different directions, but all paths need access to the same final image

  • You want a clear “commit point” where the guest’s chosen version is locked in and saved

You usually don’t need Save Final Photo when:

  • The workflow is very simple; all sharing happens at the very end

  • You don’t mind that FMX saves the final photo automatically only when the session finishes

How Save Final Photo Fits in the Workflow
In the Workflow Builder:

  • Add a step and select Save Final Photo

  • Place it after the last step that changes the photo (layouts, AI effects, signatures, etc.)

  • Most commonly, place it right after Preview – when the guest has tapped “OK” or equivalent

  • Connect it to the steps that come before and after it, like any other step

Typical patterns:

  • Take Photo → AI Effect → Layout → Preview → Save Final Photo → Email → QR

  • Take Photo → Preview → Save Final Photo → Selection Screen (Email / SMS / QR / Print)

  • Multi Photo → Layout → Preview → Save Final Photo → Print → End

  • If you add Save Final Photo, FMX treats that as the moment the final image is saved and won’t create extra “duplicate” final files later for the same session

  • If you don’t add it, FMX will save the final photo automatically when the workflow ends (as a fallback)

Why Save Final Photo Is Useful

For event operators:

  • Clear control – You decide when the final image is committed and saved

  • Reliability – Sharing steps don’t have to “wait” or hope the photo is ready; it already exists

  • Clean data – Each session has one final photo, avoiding extra or duplicate outputs

  • Flexible workflows – Works well with advanced flows, early sharing, and branching logic

For clients and guests:

  • Smooth experience – Saving happens in the background, without extra screens or waiting

  • Consistent results – The photo they approved in Preview is exactly what gets used everywhere: email, QR, print, galleries, and reports

  • Better follow-up – Since the final image is saved at the right time, online galleries and branded landing pages feel faster and more reliable

By adding the Save Final Photo step in the right place in your workflow—usually right after Preview—you make sure that every approved image is saved once, at the perfect moment, and ready for any sharing or reporting steps that follow.
