Mirror Photo Booths: Pre-Event Checklist
Use this checklist before every mirror photo booth event to make sure your hardware is complete, your cables are packed, and the software is ready to go live. It applies to all Foto Master mirror photo booths: Mirror Air, Mirror X, Mirror Me, Retro Mirror, Beauty Mirror, Tower Mirror, and Razor Mirror.
Equipment
- Mirror booth with all panels and hardware components
- Booth computer (Windows PC or iPad, depending on your model) with power adapter
- DSLR camera with AC power adapter (to keep it powered during the event)
- Flash unit with power cable and flash rod — required for Mirror Me, Beauty Mirror, Retro Mirror, and similar models with external flash
- Display monitor or touchscreen with power cable
- Powered USB hub — must be powered (able to transfer voltage) to reliably drive the camera, printer, and other devices
- LED ring (if your model includes one, such as the Beauty Mirror Booth)
- Printer with power cable and loaded media
- Microfiber cloth for cleaning the mirror surface before and during the event
- Power strip or surge protector with enough outlets for all devices
Cables & Spares
- Extra printer media set — one spare paper roll and ink set for the expected print volume
- 2 × USB cables for the printer
- 2 × USB cables for the camera (mini USB or USB-A, depending on your camera model)
- Spare hot shoe adapter and sync cord for the flash
- 2 × HDMI cables to connect the computer to the display
- Wi-Fi hotspot or ethernet cable as a backup internet source
Tip: Pack spare cables in a small labeled pouch. The most common on-site failure is a damaged cable, and having a backup takes 30 seconds to swap.
Hardware Setup
Each booth has its own physical setup guide, but the core principles are the same for all mirror booths:
- Connect the booth computer to power before turning anything on
- Connect the touchscreen or display directly to the computer via HDMI — confirm you can see the desktop or FMX on the display
- Connect the camera directly to the computer (USB) and to the AC adapter for continuous power
- Connect the flash to the camera via hot shoe and sync cord, and plug the flash into power
- Connect the printer, LED ring, and any other USB devices through the powered USB hub

Software Check
- Open FMX (Windows or iPad) and confirm you are signed in to your Foto Master Cloud account
- Select your event from the list and tap or click Sync — always sync immediately before the event, even if you synced the day before
- Confirm the sync completes without errors and all assets are downloaded
- Click Play to enter Experience View
Tip: Create and configure your Cloud event at least 24 hours before the event. This gives you time to test the preset, layout, and sharing settings without time pressure. See Creating a Cloud Event.
Pre-Event Testing
Run a complete test session before guests arrive:
- Camera — open Live View in FMX and confirm the image is sharp, well-exposed, and correctly framed. Adjust camera settings as needed for your lighting setup. See your booth's camera settings guide for recommended starting values
- Flash — take a test photo and confirm the flash fires and the exposure looks correct
- Touchscreen — tap through the workflow to confirm the touchscreen responds accurately. Calibrate if needed via Windows display settings
- Printer — print a test photo and confirm the output quality, color, and alignment. We recommend setting the printer as the default printer in Windows Control Panel
- Gallery — confirm the test photo appears in your Foto Master Cloud event gallery
- Sharing — send a test email or SMS and confirm delivery
Note: If you encounter any issues during testing, contact the Foto Master support team. We recommend completing testing at least one hour before guests arrive so any issues can be resolved without impacting the event.
