DMBot: Pen Maintenance

Updated 5 days ago · 1 min readBeginner

Why Pen Maintenance Matters

Drawing quality depends entirely on the pen tip. A worn or dried tip produces faint, broken, or incomplete drawings. Regular maintenance is the most impactful thing you can do to maintain output quality at events.

Checking Pen Condition Before an Event

  1. Draw 5–10 test lines on scrap paper. Lines should be consistent, dark, and continuous.
  2. If lines start strong and fade, the pen is low on ink — replace the pen.

Inventory for Events

  • At least 3 complete pens per bot for a 4-hour event
  • Store pens horizontally or tip-up to prevent ink pooling

During Long Events

Check pen quality every 30–40 drawings by drawing a test line on scrap paper. Replace tips proactively — a failed mid-drawing delays the queue.
