Understanding Online vs Offline Mode in DMBot for macOS

Updated 5 days ago · 1 min readIntermediate

DMBot for macOS can run in online or offline mode. Choose the mode that matches how the event receives photos and whether the Mac needs to communicate with Foto Master Cloud during operation.

Online Mode

Use online mode when DMBot connects to Foto Master Cloud.

Online mode is used for:

  • Cloud license login
  • Cloud event selection
  • Cloud media monitoring
  • Selfie Wi-Fi workflows that send media through the Cloud
  • Syncing processed PNG files
  • Remote event workflows that depend on internet access

Keep the Mac connected to a stable internet connection when online mode is enabled.

Offline Mode

Use offline mode when the event should operate locally without Cloud communication during the drawing session.

Offline mode is useful when:

  • Internet access is unreliable.
  • The event uses local Mac-to-device communication.
  • Staff needs a controlled local setup.
  • Cloud media monitoring is not required.

Offline-only controls include photo processing type, detailed hair, detailed beard, Sync PNG Files, and local connectivity options.

Switching Modes

  1. Open DMBot settings.
  2. Go to the connectivity settings.
  3. Toggle Use Online Mode for Cloud licenses.
  4. Confirm the selected event and photo source after switching.
  5. Test a drawing before the event starts.

Switching modes can change which event sources and settings are available. Recheck the queue after changing modes.

Troubleshooting Mode Issues

Cloud photos do not appear

  • Confirm online mode is enabled.
  • Confirm the correct Cloud event is selected.
  • Confirm the Mac has internet access.
  • Confirm Cloud media monitoring is enabled.

Local jobs do not appear

  • Confirm offline mode settings are visible.
  • Confirm the local sender is connected.
  • Confirm the connection name and network are correct.
  • Enable the connectivity logger if needed.
