Setting Up Printers in FMPrint

Updated 5 days ago · 2 min readIntermediate

Use FMPrint's printer setup screen to choose the printers that will receive cloud print jobs for the selected event. FMPrint can use one printer for all jobs or separate printers for full-size prints and photo strips.

Prerequisites

  • FMPrint is installed and logged in with an active FMPrint license.
  • The event is selected in FMPrint.
  • The printer is connected by USB or network.
  • The manufacturer's Windows printer driver is installed.
  • The correct paper size and media settings are configured in the printer driver.

FMPrint can only list printers that Windows can see. If the printer does not appear, fix the Windows driver or connection first.

Select the Main Printer

  1. Open FMPrint.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Open Printer Setup.
  4. Choose the Main printer for full-size prints.
  5. Use the Windows default printer or select a specific printer from the list.
  6. Send a test print.

The main printer handles standard outputs such as 4x6, 5x7, or 6x8 prints, depending on the layout and printer driver settings.

Select a Strip Printer

If your event prints photo strips:

  1. Open Settings > Printer Setup.
  2. Choose a Strip printer.
  3. Send a strip test print.
  4. Adjust orientation or padding if needed.

You can use the same physical printer for full prints and strips, or route strips to a dedicated printer.

Refresh the Printer List

If you connect a printer while FMPrint is already open:

  1. Confirm Windows detects the printer.
  2. Return to FMPrint.
  3. Click Refresh Printer List.
  4. Select the printer and send a test print.

Restart FMPrint if the printer still does not appear after the driver is installed, and Windows can print to it.
