Understanding Online vs Offline Mode in DMBot for macOSUpdated 13 hours ago

The new DMBot for macOS supports two operational modes: Online Mode and Offline Mode. This article explains the key differences, how each mode works, and how to switch between them.

🔹 Online Mode (Recommended)

Online Mode is the future of AI drawing. It leverages Foto Master’s Cloud to deliver the highest quality drawings, including:

  • AI-generated full bodies, caricatures, and backgrounds

  • Support for groups, pets, and custom prompts

  • Access to the latest AI Draw Me models and presets

  • Seamless cloud-based processing with cloud credit usage

How it works:

  1. Photos are captured using FMBooth for iPadOS or FMBooth for Windows.

  2. The image is uploaded to Foto Master Cloud using the AI Draw Me step in the workflow.

  3. The AI model processes the image using your cloud credits.

  4. The completed drawing is automatically synced to DMBot for macOS for printing/drawing, matched by event.

⚠️ To use Online Mode, your workflow must include the AI Draw Me step—not the legacy Draw Me step.

🔹 Offline Mode (Legacy)

Offline Mode uses an older, device-based AI model. It offers basic functionality and works without an internet connection. Supported features include:

  • Face-only drawings

  • Face-only caricatures

  • Local processing using the Mac’s built-in AI model

How it works:

  1. Photos are sent from FMBooth for iPadOS to DMBot via Multipeer Connectivity (similar to AirDrop).

  2. DMBot’s local model processes the photo and generates a draw-ready file.

⚠️ The quality in Offline Mode is significantly lower compared to Online Mode and does not support full bodies, groups, pets, or backgrounds.

🔁 How to Switch Between Modes

  • In DMBot for MacOS go to Settings and switch between the 2 modes (offline / online) via the toggle button.

  • In your event workflow, use AI Draw Me to activate Online Mode.

  • Use Draw Me to revert to Offline Mode.

All new default content and downloadable presets are designed for Online Mode, including advanced user-generated prompts and body selection.

🔚 Final Notes

  • You can find ready-to-use AI Draw Me presets in the Download Center inside the app.

  • Offline Mode is best suited for venues with no internet access, but we strongly recommend using Online Mode for modern, premium experiences.
