Mosaic Photo Quality

Legacy Article: This article covers the legacy Photo Mosaic Wall software. The next generation — PMWall — is coming soon.

Key Quality Metrics

Photo mosaic quality depends on two factors:

  1. How the Final Photo looks compared to the Master Photo loaded in the activation
  2. How individual tiles compare to their source images

Grid Size Impact

  • Larger grids (e.g., 100x100) allow better results with higher opacity settings and more diverse imagery
  • Smaller grids (e.g., 15x15) require more adjustments to achieve acceptable quality, even with carefully selected source photos

Quality Optimization Factors

  1. Board dimensions matter -- The larger the board, the more detailed your Master Photo can be
  2. Opacity adjustment -- Lower opacity percentages can compensate for detail loss in smaller configurations
  3. Master image selection -- Choose images without excessive small details

Test before final production:

  1. Create test activations with your intended settings
  2. Disable printing during trials
  3. Compare results against your main photo
  4. Gather customer feedback if available
  5. Adjust settings and iterate until satisfied

Tip: Minimize testing costs by using minimal simulation time and importing photos via hashtag or direct upload rather than full production runs.
