FMX for iPad: System Requirements

FMX for iPadOS is a native Swift application that delivers the full photo booth experience on Apple's iPad platform. Before installing, ensure your iPad meets these requirements.

Supported iPad Models

FMX for iPadOS requires an iPad with an A12 Bionic chip or newer. This includes:

  • iPad Pro (all models) -- Recommended for best performance
  • iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad (8th generation and later)
  • iPad mini (5th generation and later)

Tip: iPad Pro models with M-series chips deliver the best performance, especially when running AI features and video recording simultaneously.

Operating System

  • Minimum: iPadOS 16.0
  • Recommended: Latest available iPadOS version

Storage

  • Minimum: 5 GB free for the app and basic operation
  • Recommended: 20+ GB free for events with video recording, AI processing, and large media libraries

Camera

FMX for iPadOS uses the built-in iPad cameras:

  • Front camera (TrueDepth) -- Most common for guest-facing photo booths
  • Rear camera -- Higher quality, useful for specific booth designs
  • Camera device selection -- Wide-angle, telephoto (on supported models)
  • Screen flash -- iPad screen used as flash in low-light situations

FMX does not support external DSLR/mirrorless cameras on iPad. For external camera support, use FMX for Windows.

Internet Connection

  • Required for: Cloud sync, AI processing, online galleries, email/SMS sharing, license validation
  • Not required for: Basic photo capture, local storage, offline gallery

A stable Wi-Fi connection is recommended.

Supported Accessories

  • External display -- Via USB-C or Lightning adapter for slideshow/mirroring
  • Bluetooth LED ring -- Wireless LED lighting control
  • PrintPal -- Network-based wireless print delivery
  • Bluetooth microphone -- For audio in video recordings

Software License

  • FMX for iPadOS: $32/month per device (billed annually)
  • Cloud subscription: Separate (Basic or Pro) -- per company
