How to Add a Transparent Overlay to a PMWall Mosaic
A transparent overlay is optional PNG artwork, such as a logo or frame, that PMWall composites over your mosaic. This article shows you how to prepare the overlay file and add it to your PMWall template in Foto Master Cloud.
Note: The overlay must have exactly the same pixel dimensions as your main image. Check the size of both files before you upload.
Prepare the Overlay File
- Check the pixel dimensions of your main image (for example, 4800×4800).
- Create your artwork on a canvas with exactly the same pixel dimensions.
- Keep every area where guest photos should appear fully transparent.
- Export the artwork as a PNG file with transparency.
Note: Any coordinate that is fully opaque in the overlay is left out of photo placement and printing. No guest photo is placed there and no tile is printed for it, so use fully opaque artwork only where you do not want photos.
Add the Overlay in Foto Master Cloud
- Log in to cloud.fotomaster.com.
- Open Presets and select PMWall.
- Click New Template, or open the existing template you want to edit.
- Open the Main Image & Grid tab.
- Make sure your Main Image is uploaded.
- Under Transparent overlay, upload your PNG file.
- Check the preview to confirm the artwork sits where you expect over the mosaic.
- Save the template.
Note: Settle your main image and overlay before the event starts. Changing the main image after the mosaic has started clears every placed tile on the next start.
Possible issues:
- The overlay is not accepted or does not line up: confirm its pixel dimensions match the main image exactly, then export and upload it again.
- Fewer photos are placed or printed than expected: check the overlay for large fully opaque areas, since those coordinates are skipped.
And you're good to go!
