PMWall Queue Management and Moderation
The Queue Management tab monitors upload, download, and moderation activity for the selected event. It is where you go when photos are not appearing on the wall, and where you approve guest photos when moderation is on.
Choosing a Queue
The Queue dropdown switches between three views:
- Media Download -- Photos being pulled from the Cloud event gallery into the mosaic. This is the queue that matters when booth or Selfie Wi-Fi photos are not reaching the wall.
- Media Upload -- Media being sent from PMWall to the Cloud, including mosaic tiles published for the Virtual Mosaic.
- Moderation -- Guest photos waiting for approval. Only meaningful when moderation is enabled.
The tab always works against the event currently selected on the Dashboard. If you see No event selected, choose an event there first.
Media Download and Media Upload
Both queues share the same columns:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Status | Where the item is in the queue |
| Media Type | Raw or Final |
| Added At | When the item entered the queue |
| Completed At | When it finished, if it has |
| Size | File size |
| Target / File | The file involved |
Filter with Status: and reorder with Sort:, which offers Status — failures first, Date added — newest, and Date added — oldest. Status — failures first is the useful one mid-event: it brings anything that failed to the top. Clear filters resets the view.
Retrying and Removing
- Retry One -- Retries the selected item.
- Retry Selected -- Retries everything you have selected.
- Remove Selected -- Drops items from the queue.
Transient network failures are retried automatically, so a handful of failures that clear on their own is normal on venue Wi-Fi. Persistent failures across many items point at connectivity, credentials, or the Cloud plan rather than at individual photos.
If you see Cloud uploads paused, uploading has been suspended. Check the connection and the Settings > Cloud toggles.
Tip: If the wall is not filling, check Media Download before anything else. An empty download queue with No media queued for download means photos are not reaching the Cloud event at all, which is a booth or Selfie Wi-Fi problem, not a PMWall one.
Moderation
Moderation holds every new raw photo until a person approves it. For public events where guests upload from their own phones, this is the difference between a controlled display and an unmoderated one.
Turning Moderation On
Open Settings > Runtime and enable Enable moderation. It is off by default.
Moderation is read live, so you can turn it on or off during a running event. When you start a mosaic with moderation enabled, PMWall confirms that new raw photos will wait for approval.
Reviewing Photos
Switch the Queue to Moderation. Filter by status:
- All statuses
- Needs attention
- Pending approval
- Failed
- Approved
- Processing
- Completed
Sort with Needs action first, Date added — newest, Date added — oldest, C/R — ascending, or C/R — descending. The C/R sorts order by wall position, which is useful when you are reconciling the screen against printed tiles.
For each photo:
- Approve -- Releases the photo so PMWall can place it.
- Reject -- Keeps it off the wall.
- Delete -- Removes it entirely.
Needs action first combined with Needs attention is the practical working view during a busy event.
Planning for Moderation
Moderation adds a person to the critical path. Every photo now waits for a human before it can be placed, so:
- Assign someone to the moderation queue for the whole event, not as a side duty.
- Watch Cells Left on the Runtime tab. If approvals fall behind, the wall stops filling and the event can slip into Critical mode.
- Agree the rejection criteria with the client before doors open, so the moderator is not making judgement calls under pressure.
If a photo is approved but still does not appear, the wall may already be full and frozen. Check Runtime State and the template's When the wall is full setting.
