How to Set Up Shopify Payments and Return to Camera in Selfie Wi-Fi

Updated Today · 4 min readBeginner

Guests can pay for Selfie Wi-Fi photos through your own Shopify store, then tap Return to camera to go back to your event. Shopify provides the secure checkout, the Thank you page, and the Order status page, so you do not need to build a custom checkout website or landing page.

Note: The Selfie Wi-Fi return button extension must be installed and available in your Shopify store before you start. Connecting your store alone does not add the button. If you cannot find the block in step 3, contact Foto Master Support to confirm the installation and your store’s eligibility.

Before You Start

Cloud plan: An active Pro Cloud account with Selfie Wi-Fi and guest payments available.
Shopify store: Your own Shopify store, connected to that Cloud account, with a successful connection test.
Shopify permissions: Permission to manage apps and edit your Shopify checkout settings.
Guest flow: A Selfie Wi-Fi template with a Payment screen before Capture.

Note: Foto Master Support cannot guide you through signing up for Shopify. Once you have a store, Support can help you connect it.

Step 1: Connect Your Shopify Store

  1. In Foto Master Cloud, open Settings > Shopify.
  2. Enter your store’s Shop domain in the my-store.myshopify.com format.
  3. Enter your Client ID and Client secret.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Click Test Connection and resolve any error before you test guest payments.

Note: For help creating the Shopify app or setting its permissions, follow the Shopify integration guide from Foto Master Support. Enter secrets only in the secure setup fields, and never include them in screenshots or support messages.

Step 2: Set Up the Payment Screen

  1. Open your Selfie Wi-Fi template and select the Guest flow tab.
  2. Add or select the Payment screen. It must come before Capture.
  3. Choose Shopify as the Payment provider.
  4. Enter the Price, Currency, Product name, and Photos per payment.
  5. Set the access duration.
  6. Make sure the currency and tax setup work with your store.
  7. Click Save Changes.

Step 3: Add Return to Camera in Shopify

  1. In Shopify admin, open Settings > Checkout.
  2. Click Edit or Customize on your active checkout configuration.
  3. In the page selector, choose Thank you.
  4. Click Add block and choose Selfie WiFi - Return to camera.
  5. Place the block near the order confirmation.
  6. In the page selector, choose Order status.
  7. Add the same block near the top of the page.
  8. Click Save.

Note: Keep your existing checkout blocks. If Shopify asks for an app permission update, have the store owner review it before approving. Do not remove unrelated blocks to fix a save error.

The block appears only on qualifying Selfie Wi-Fi purchases and stays hidden on ordinary store orders. Do not replace it with a store-wide link or redirect.

What Guests Do After Paying

  1. The guest completes the Shopify checkout.
  2. The guest taps Return to camera on the Thank you or Order status page.
  3. Selfie Wi-Fi verifies the payment and continues to the photo step.

Note: Shopify does not send guests back to the camera automatically. Ask guests to use the same browser they started in, keep their original Selfie Wi-Fi tab open, and keep the resume code shown before checkout.

Test Before Your Event

  1. Run a test purchase you have arranged with your payment provider or Foto Master Support.
  2. Make sure the purchase shows the Return to camera button.
  3. Make sure the button returns to the correct event and allows the purchased photo.
  4. Place an ordinary Shopify order and make sure it does not show the button.
  5. Repeat on the phones and browsers your guests will use.

Troubleshooting

The block is missing from Shopify’s editor:

Make sure the return button extension is installed on your store and supports its checkout setup, then contact Foto Master Support. A custom landing page will not fix this.

No button appears on an order:

Make sure you saved the block on both the Thank you and Order status pages, and that the purchase started from the Selfie Wi-Fi Payment screen. Ordinary or manually created store orders do not show the button.

The guest paid but cannot take a photo:

Ask the guest to return to the original Selfie Wi-Fi tab and wait for payment verification to finish. Use the resume code if prompted. The guest should not pay again just because confirmation is taking a moment.

The guest opened a different browser or a custom domain:

The original session may not be available there. Ask the guest to use the original browser or their resume code. Ask Foto Master Support to confirm compatibility before using a white-label domain with the return button.

If the payment still cannot be confirmed, contact Foto Master Support with the order number, event name, payment time, and a screenshot of the error with private information hidden.
