Working with Green Screen and Live View Feature
Legacy Article: This article covers the legacy FMBooth (Windows + iPadOS) software. FMBooth (Windows + iPadOS) has been replaced by FMX. See FMX documentation →
Physical Setup
To use the green screen feature with live view, open the camera mechanism and position it as shown in the documentation. Place a green mat or sheet underneath, ensuring the camera only captures the green surface area.
Animation Requirements
The animation should meet these specifications:
- Supported formats: .swf, .mp4
- Resolution: Match your screen resolution (1080x2560 for Spire Photo Booth; 1080x1920 for other Mirror Booths)
- Looping: Animation must be seamless, with the ending frame matching the beginning
Photo Layout Configuration
Step 1: Create Background
Prepare a background matching your animation. Extract a frame from your animation/video as reference. The background resolution should match your printout size (1200x1800 for 4x6 paper).
Step 2: Position Photo Element
Place the photo element (displayed in purple) where users should stand when taking photos.
Step 3: Adjust Aspect Ratio
The photo element defaults to a 2:3 ratio. The documentation recommends changing this to 1:1:
- Click the photo's [...] button
- Uncheck "Keep Aspect Ratio"
- Set aspect ratio to 1.0
- Set Fill Mode to "Scale"
- Set Scale Mode to "Zoom"
Workflow Setup
In the Workflow tab, navigate to the Live View feature state and:
- Select your camera
- Enable Green Screen
Recommended Workflow Steps
- Add "Live View Start" feature state
- Add your animation (suggest setting next state trigger to Touch with KeyFob for hands-free operation)
- Add "Save Final Photo" state after applying all desired effects
This setup creates an interactive experience where guests can position themselves on the animated background before the photo is captured.
