Placing Your Custom Files

Legacy Article: This article covers the legacy FMBooth (Windows + iPadOS) software. FMBooth (Windows + iPadOS) has been replaced by FMX. See FMX documentation →

Adding personalized assets to FMBooth is straightforward. Here's how to get started with custom animations, overlays, and backgrounds.

Transferring Your File To The iPad

Multiple methods exist for moving files from your computer to your iPad:

  1. AirDrop: Mac users can send files directly to their iPad. The file automatically appears in your camera roll, from which you can transfer it to the Files section.

  2. Email: Send yourself the file and open it on your iPad to save it.

  3. WeTransfer: A reliable option for larger files. Visit https://wetransfer.com/

Animation

Once your animation file is ready:

  • Transfer the file to your iPad
  • Open the file and select Save to Files > On My iPad > FMBooth > Workflows > Animations
  • You may save to an existing category or create a new folder
  • Launch the app, navigate to your workflow, select the Animation state you want to modify, and choose your custom animation

Format requirement: Files must be in .mp4 or .mov (with h264 transparency) format

Overlay and Background

  • Ensure custom files are saved in the iPad's gallery
  • Open the app and go to the Photo Layout tab
  • Select +Add Visual Element and choose "External Image"
  • Click the settings icon for that element's row
  • For overlays: stay in Foregrounds options and press + to access your gallery
