How to use the "Screen Recording" Feature

Legacy Article: This article covers the legacy FMBooth (Windows + iPadOS) software. FMBooth (Windows + iPadOS) has been replaced by FMX. See FMX documentation →

Adding the Screen Recording Feature to the Workflow

  1. Insert the Live View Start feature state where you want recording to begin. This activates your selected camera (webcam, DSLR, Kinect).

  2. Add the Screen Recording Start feature state immediately after Live View Start.

  3. Place an Animation state after Screen Recording Start, setting its Next State Trigger to "Time". The animation duration determines video length.

  4. Add the Screen Recording Stop feature state following the Animation.

  5. Insert the Live View Stop feature state last.

In this example, the software captures video during both the "Countdown" and "All you need is love" animations.

Settings

Access the Settings tab and navigate to the Screen Recording section to adjust these options:

Recording parameters:

  • Recording Width x Height: Set video capture dimensions
  • Recording Left x Top: Position the recording area
  • Wait on Video Ready: Enable to pause workflow until the recording file saves

Output parameters:

  • Output Width x Height: Configure final video dimensions
  • Frames Per Second: Specify the video frame rate

Using Screen Recording with Augmented Reality

The feature works seamlessly with AR experiences. Simply bracket your AR content with Screen Recording Start and Stop states in your workflow to capture the complete augmented reality interaction as video.
