How To Create Trading Cards - 4x6 Media

Overview
This guide explains how to create trading cards using FMBooth software for Windows and a Silhouette Cameo cutting machine.
Requirements
- FMBooth For Windows software
- Silhouette Cameo 5 or Cameo 4 (available through retailers like Amazon)
- 2mm blade for the cutter
- Secondary Windows-based computer
- Silhouette Studio software (downloadable)
- Trading card casing
Note: "We recommend using a 5x7 media - when using it you do not need to have a cutter with a second computer and software."
FMBooth Setup
- Navigate to the Downloads tab
- Select and download "Trading_Cards4x6.zip"
- Four new presets will appear in the Presets tab
- Optionally download "Multipresets_Structure.zip" to access multi-preset selection
How the Preset Works
The workflow involves three steps:
- A DSLR photo is captured and automatically duplicated
- AI Headshot feature applies a custom basketball player aesthetic
- Layout tab contains two photo elements positioned for cutting into two separate cards
Silhouette Studio Configuration
Page Settings
- Open Silhouette Studio
- Access "Page Setup" (upper right)
- Set Media Size to 6x4
- Set Page Orientation to Landscape
Creating Cut Templates
- Use the drawing tool to create a rectangle
- Copy and paste to create a second rectangle
- Configure dimensions and positioning:
Left rectangle:
- Width/Height: 2.520 x 3.503
- X/Y position: 0.180 x 0.248
Right rectangle:
- Width/Height: 2.520 x 3.503
- X/Y position: 3.200 x 0.248
Cutting Process
Cutter Settings
- Force: 15
- Passes: 2
- Speed: 10
Steps
- Place the printed photo on the Silhouette mat
- Feed the mat into the cutter (press Up arrow)
- Confirm "Ready" status in the software
- Press "Send" to begin cutting
- Remove mat by pressing Down arrow when complete
