How To Create Trading Cards - 4x6 Media

Legacy Article: This article covers the legacy FMBooth (Windows + iPadOS) software. FMBooth (Windows + iPadOS) has been replaced by FMX. See FMX documentation →

Overview

This guide explains how to create trading cards using FMBooth software for Windows and a Silhouette Cameo cutting machine.

Requirements

  • FMBooth For Windows software
  • Silhouette Cameo 5 or Cameo 4 (available through retailers like Amazon)
  • 2mm blade for the cutter
  • Secondary Windows-based computer
  • Silhouette Studio software (downloadable)
  • Trading card casing

Note: "We recommend using a 5x7 media - when using it you do not need to have a cutter with a second computer and software."

FMBooth Setup

  1. Navigate to the Downloads tab
  2. Select and download "Trading_Cards4x6.zip"
  3. Four new presets will appear in the Presets tab
  4. Optionally download "Multipresets_Structure.zip" to access multi-preset selection

How the Preset Works

The workflow involves three steps:

  1. A DSLR photo is captured and automatically duplicated
  2. AI Headshot feature applies a custom basketball player aesthetic
  3. Layout tab contains two photo elements positioned for cutting into two separate cards

Silhouette Studio Configuration

Page Settings

  • Open Silhouette Studio
  • Access "Page Setup" (upper right)
  • Set Media Size to 6x4
  • Set Page Orientation to Landscape

Creating Cut Templates

  1. Use the drawing tool to create a rectangle
  2. Copy and paste to create a second rectangle
  3. Configure dimensions and positioning:

Left rectangle:

  • Width/Height: 2.520 x 3.503
  • X/Y position: 0.180 x 0.248

Right rectangle:

  • Width/Height: 2.520 x 3.503
  • X/Y position: 3.200 x 0.248
