Booth Computer Running Slowly at Events

Updated Today · 1 min read

Common Causes

  • Windows Update downloading in the background
  • Antivirus scanning during the event
  • Low disk space on the system drive
  • Too many hours without a restart — memory buildup

Immediate Fixes During an Event

  1. Open Task Manager and check CPU/Memory usage. Identify the problem process.
  2. If Windows Update is running: Settings → Windows Update → Pause Updates.
  3. Close all applications except FMX.
  4. If critically slow: press ESC in FMX, close FMX, restart PC, reopen. Takes 3–4 minutes.

Pre-Event Performance Checklist

  • Restart the booth PC the morning of the event
  • Pause Windows Updates for 1 week
  • Set antivirus to Gaming/Quiet Mode or schedule scans overnight only
  • Confirm system drive has at least 20GB free
  • Disable sleep mode (Power Settings → Never sleep)
