Booth Computer Running Slowly at Events
Common Causes
- Windows Update downloading in the background
- Antivirus scanning during the event
- Low disk space on the system drive
- Too many hours without a restart — memory buildup
Immediate Fixes During an Event
- Open Task Manager and check CPU/Memory usage. Identify the problem process.
- If Windows Update is running: Settings → Windows Update → Pause Updates.
- Close all applications except FMX.
- If critically slow: press ESC in FMX, close FMX, restart PC, reopen. Takes 3–4 minutes.
Pre-Event Performance Checklist
- Restart the booth PC the morning of the event
- Pause Windows Updates for 1 week
- Set antivirus to Gaming/Quiet Mode or schedule scans overnight only
- Confirm system drive has at least 20GB free
- Disable sleep mode (Power Settings → Never sleep)
