The "Pre-Event Testing": How to Test Your Booth Like a Pro
The secret to a flawless, stress-free event is catching potential issues in your living room before you ever pack up your car. Performing a "Quality Assurance" (QA) test on your FMX booth ensures that your hardware, software, and AI workflows are communicating perfectly.
Before your next big gig, run through this quick 3-step Pre-Event QA checklist:
Step 1: The Hardware & Sync Check
First, we need to make sure your software is actually talking to your physical equipment.
-
Check the Camera Sync: Open the FMX app and adjust your ISO or Shutter Speed on the screen. Look at your physical camera's display, did the numbers change there, too? If they match, your two-way sync is perfect.
-
Check the Focus: Ensure your camera lens is set to MF (Manual Focus) so you don't run into "Camera Busy" errors when the venue lights go down.
Step 2: The Workflow & AI Validation
Next, you need to run a test session exactly as a guest would experience it.
-
Run the Workflow: Tap the screen and go through the entire process. Take the photos, apply the filters, and wait for the final composite to render.
-
Test the AI: If you are using any AI Features on your Workflow, we highly recommend testing them out just to be sure it still does the output it should be.
Step 3: The Network & Export Check
Finally, make sure your guests can actually receive their photos.
-
Test the Internet: If you are using Wi-Fi, verify the signal strength. If you are using a mini-computer, we highly recommend plugging in a hardwired Ethernet cable to guarantee blazing-fast AI upload and download speeds.
-
Test the Sharing: Enter your own phone number and email address into the sharing screen. Verify that the SMS and email arrive quickly and look exactly the way you branded them.
A Final Reminder for Event Day!
While testing at home is essential, keep in mind that every single venue will have unique lighting, varying internet speeds, and different environmental factors. Arriving at the event location earlier than expected to run through this exact checklist one more time on-site is the ultimate key to guaranteeing a flawless event!
