Coupon Code Not Working

Updated Today · 6 min read

Coupon codes apply at the moment you upgrade or sign up for a Cloud subscription. When a code does not work, the usual reasons are that it is being entered in the wrong place, applied to the wrong plan, or already redeemed on the account. This article covers exactly where to enter codes, why valid codes get rejected, and what to do when the discount applied but the bonus credits never appeared.

Quick Diagnostics

  1. Confirm you are entering the code at the Cloud signup checkout or in Billing > Upgrade, not in the FMX/FMX desktop app.
  2. Check that the plan you are upgrading to is the plan the coupon is meant for (a "yearly Basic" code will not apply to a monthly plan).
  3. Confirm the email you are signing up with has not already used that coupon.
  4. After upgrading, refresh the billing page -- if the credits did not appear, the code may need manual activation by support.

Common Issues

"Coupon Code Is Not Working" at Signup or Checkout

Problem: You enter a coupon code at the Cloud checkout page and it is rejected, or you see an "invalid code" message.

Cause: Typical reasons include:

  • A typo or extra space in the code
  • The code is being applied to the wrong subscription plan (annual vs. monthly, Basic vs. Pro)
  • The account email already redeemed the same code
  • The promotion has expired
  • The code was tied to a specific welcome email and a different email address is being used

Solution:

  1. Copy the code directly from the original email rather than retyping it. Codes are case-insensitive but a hidden trailing space will cause a rejection.
  2. Make sure you are subscribing to the plan the code targets. The active codes we share most often are:
    • Basic2Credits -- $49 bonus credit on the monthly Basic plan ($49/mo)
    • Basic2Free -- 2 months FREE plus $100 bonus credit on the yearly Basic plan ($390)
    • Pro4Free -- 4 months FREE plus $250 bonus credit on the yearly Pro plan
    • welcome2fm -- Tied to the welcome email for a specific account; only valid for the email it was sent to
  3. If you received a code in a welcome email, the code is matched to that email address. Sign up using the exact email the welcome message was sent to.
  4. Only one coupon can be applied per subscription. If you have already used one, a second code will fail.

Code Was Accepted But Bonus Credits Did Not Appear

Problem: The coupon was accepted at checkout (you got the discount or free month) but the bonus AI credits never showed up in your balance.

Cause: This is a known issue specifically with Basic2Credits and a few similar promo codes. The discount portion applies automatically, but the bonus credit grant requires manual activation by Foto Master's Cloud Operations team. Until that step runs, the credits do not appear.

Solution:

  1. Wait a few minutes after the purchase and refresh Cloud > Billing to confirm the credits really did not arrive (sometimes there is a brief sync delay).
  2. If the credits are still missing after 10 minutes, contact support@fotomaster.com and include:
    • The account email
    • The coupon code you used
    • The plan you subscribed to and the date
    • A screenshot of the current credit balance
  3. Support will route the case to Roman (Cloud Operations) for manual credit activation. This is usually resolved within one business day.

Tip: If your event is the same day, mention that in the ticket -- support can fast-track the credit grant so you are not stuck waiting.

"Already Used" or "Invalid for This Account" Error

Problem: The system rejects your coupon code with an "already used" message even though you have never redeemed it before.

Cause: Coupons are tracked per Cloud account email. If the same email previously held a Basic or Pro subscription that used a similar promo, the system blocks reuse. Some welcome codes are also single-use and tied to one specific account record on our side.

Solution:

  1. Confirm the email on your Cloud account has not previously held a paid subscription with a coupon applied.
  2. If you are sure the code has not been used, email support@fotomaster.com with your account email and the code. Support can check the redemption history and, when appropriate, grant a one-time exception or issue a fresh code.

You Believe You Should Have a Coupon But Did Not Receive One

Problem: You bought a Foto Master booth or upgraded a license and were told a free Cloud subscription or bonus credit code would be included, but you cannot find the code.

Cause: The welcome email containing your code may have been filtered to spam, sent to a different address than the one you are using, or it may have been delayed if your purchase was processed manually.

Solution:

  1. Search your inbox (and spam folder) for "REC -" or "Welcome to the Foto Master Family". The welcome email always contains the activation link and the code (often welcome2fm or a similar account-specific code).
  2. If you cannot find the email, write to support@fotomaster.com from the same email used at purchase. Support will resend the welcome email and confirm which code applies to your account.
  3. For a hardware purchase, mention the booth model so support can verify the included Cloud benefit (Pylon iPad, Draw Me Bot, Mirror booths, etc., have different included plans).

Lifetime License Holders Asking About Free Credit Codes

Problem: You hold a lifetime FMX or older Foto Master license and want to know whether a free credit coupon applies to you.

Cause: Lifetime license holders still need an active Cloud subscription (Basic or Pro) to access the latest FMX for Windows and Cloud AI features. Free credit coupons are routinely offered to lifetime holders so they can trial the AI features at no cost.

Solution:

  1. Email support@fotomaster.com from the email associated with your lifetime license.
  2. Mention that you are a lifetime license holder and would like a Cloud credit coupon for trialing AI features.
  3. Support will provide an account-specific code that grants free Cloud Credits once you activate a Basic or Pro plan. For background on how lifetime versus subscription licenses interact with credits, see Licensing Explained.

When to Contact Support

Email support@fotomaster.com if:

  • A code is rejected even though you copied it cleanly and the plan matches.
  • The coupon discount applied but the bonus credits did not arrive after 10 minutes.
  • You cannot find your welcome email or the code listed in it.
  • You are a lifetime license holder and want a credit coupon for trialing AI.

Always include your account email and the exact code so we can look up the redemption record on the first reply.
