Preview: Overview

Updated 4 days ago · 2 min readBeginner

The Preview step lets guests see their photo or video before they move on. They can decide whether to keep the result as-is, or (if you allow it) retake and try again.

What Is the Preview Step?

From the workflow point of view, Preview:

  • Shows the result of a capture, such as a photo (raw capture or final processed photo/layout), a video, or a GIF
  • Allows you to choose what to show (for example: final photo, video, or GIF — only relevant options appear based on your workflow)
  • Can optionally offer a Retake button that sends guests back to an earlier step you choose
  • If Retake is off, it shows the media for a short time (that you can adjust) and then continues automatically to the next step

From the guest's point of view:

  • They see their photo, video, or GIF on screen
  • If Retake is enabled, they choose Keep / Continue to move forward in the journey, or Retake to go back and capture again
  • If Retake is disabled, the media plays for a few seconds (or a few loops for video / GIF), and then the experience continues automatically

When Should You Use Preview?

Use a Preview step whenever you want guests to confirm the result before you:

  • Print their photo
  • Share it by email, QR code, or social media
  • Show a processed result (for example, an AI cartoon or layout) and let them decide if it's good enough

Typical examples:

  • Take Photo → Preview → Print Copies
  • Take Photo → AI Effect → Preview → Share

How Preview Fits in the Workflow

In the Workflow Builder:

  • Add a step and select Preview
  • Choose what to show — for example, final photo (most common), raw photo, video, or GIF

Decide how guests move on:

With Retake:

  • Turn Retake on
  • Choose which step to go back to when guests tap Retake (for example: Take Photo)
  • The media stays on screen until the guest chooses Keep or Retake (no automatic timeout)

Without Retake:

  • Turn Retake off
  • For photos: set how many seconds to show the image
  • For videos / GIFs: set how many times they loop
  • After that time, the workflow continues automatically to the next step

Why Preview Is Useful

For event operators:

  • Quality control — guests approve the result before you print or share
  • Flexible flows — you can choose between fast automatic previews and full keep or retake loops

For clients and guests:

  • More control — they decide if the photo or video is good enough before it leaves the booth
  • Better experience — fewer awkward photos, more results, they are proud to share
  • Professional feel — a clear review step makes the whole journey look polished and guest-friendly
