SMS Sharing
SMS sharing lets guests receive their photo booth photos instantly via text message. It's one of the fastest and most reliable delivery methods, since nearly everyone has their phone at an event and texts are opened almost immediately. This article explains how SMS sharing works and how to set it up.
How SMS Sharing Works
When SMS sharing is enabled for an event, here's the guest experience:
- The guest takes a photo at the booth.
- They enter their phone number on the booth screen (or it's captured through the workflow).
- Foto Master Cloud sends a text message to the guest's phone within seconds.
- The text includes a short link to the guest's individual photo landing page.
- The guest taps the link to view, download, and share their photo.
SMS delivery is handled entirely by the Cloud platform -- no additional hardware or phone line is needed at the booth.
Setting Up SMS Delivery
To enable SMS sharing for an event:
- Navigate to Events and select your event.
- Go to Event Settings > Sharing.
- Toggle SMS Sharing to on.
- Configure the SMS message content (see "Customizing SMS Messages" below).
- Save your settings.
SMS sharing can also be enabled as part of a preset, so it's automatically active when the preset is loaded.
Tip: Enable both SMS and email sharing for maximum reach. Some guests prefer text, others prefer email, and offering both ensures everyone gets their photos the way they want.
SMS Costs and Credit Usage
SMS messages are delivered using your AI credit balance or through a separate SMS credit allocation, depending on your plan:
- SMS delivery costs credits -- Each SMS sent deducts credits from your balance. The exact cost per message may vary by destination country.
- Domestic messages are typically less expensive than international messages.
- Credit usage is tracked in your Analytics dashboard under sharing metrics.
Monitor your credit balance when running large events to ensure you have enough credits for both AI features and SMS delivery. See Understanding AI Credits for more on how credits work.
Tip: For high-volume events, consider enabling auto-recharge on your credit balance to avoid interruptions. See Adding Credits to Your Cloud Account for setup instructions.
Customizing SMS Messages
You can customize the text message that guests receive:
- Go to Settings > SMS Templates (or configure per-event in Event Settings > Sharing > SMS).
- Edit the message body.
Available variables for SMS messages:
- Guest Name -- The guest's name (if collected).
- Event Name -- The name of the event.
- Photo Link -- The link to the guest's photo landing page.
Keep your SMS messages concise. Text messages have character limits, and shorter messages are more likely to be read quickly. Include the photo link and a brief, friendly message.
Example SMS message:
Hi {{guest_name}}! Your photo from {{event_name}} is ready: {{photo_link}}
Tip: Avoid using URL shorteners other than the one provided by Foto Master Cloud. Third-party shortened URLs can be flagged as spam by mobile carriers.
