Presets: Overview
Presets are one of the most time-saving features in Foto Master Cloud. A preset packages your booth setup, including workflow, layout, video settings, and related assets, into a reusable configuration that can be applied to an event with a few clicks.
This article explains what presets are, how to load Foto Master presets, how to customize them, and how to create your own.
What Is a Preset?
A preset is a saved collection of settings used to run a booth experience. In FMX, a preset can include:
- Workflow -- The sequence of steps guests go through when using the booth, such as capture, AI processing, preview, sharing, and final output.
- Layout -- The design of the final photo, including overlays, backgrounds, frames, text, and positioning.
- Video -- The video output configuration, including speed settings such as slow motion or fast motion, trimming, effects, overlays, pre-rolls, and post-rolls.
Think of a preset as a complete, ready-to-use booth setup. Once you create or customize a preset for a specific event type, such as weddings, corporate events, birthdays, or brand activations, you can reuse it without rebuilding the setup every time.
Loading a Preset from the Cloud
The fastest way to get started is to load one of the ready-made presets created by the Foto Master team. To load a preset into an event:
- Log into cloud.fotomaster.com.
- Go to Events.
- Select the event you want to configure.
- Enable the software you are using, for example, FMX Windows.
- Click Load Preset.
- Browse the preset library and select the preset you want to apply.
- Review the preset details, including workflow, layout, and video settings.
- Click Save to assign the preset to the selected license.
- Open your desktop or iPad app and click Sync Event to download the preset and all related assets to your local booth computer or device.
Tip: If your event uses multiple licenses, make sure you select the correct preset for each license. This allows different booths to run different presets at the same event, or across different events.
What Happens When You Apply a Preset?
When you apply a preset to an event and sync it to your booth:
- The event workflow is updated to match the preset workflow.
- The layout is updated to match the preset layout.
- The video output settings are updated to match the preset video configuration.
- All related assets are downloaded to the local device.
Editing Existing Prests
After using Select, Sync, Play to load a Foto Master preset, the next natural step is often to customize it for your event.
For example, you may want to edit the layout for an upcoming wedding or corporate event by replacing the PNG overlay, changing the text, or adjusting the design.
To edit an existing preset:
- Open the event in Foto Master Cloud.
- Go to the software section, for example, FMX.
- Click Edit next to the setting you want to customize, such as Workflow, Layout, or Video.
- Make your changes.
- Click Save.
- Sync the event again in your desktop or iPad app.
Tip: When you edit a layout, workflow, or video template that came from an existing Foto Master preset, Cloud automatically duplicates it and saves the new version under your own templates. This way, the original Foto Master preset remains unchanged while your customized version is assigned to the event.
Creating Your Own Presets
You can also create your own presets from scratch or by duplicating an existing Foto Master preset.
To create your own preset:
- Click Presets from the left-side main menu.
- Select the software you want to configure.
- Choose the preset type you want to create, such as Workflow, Layout, or Video.
- Click New to start from scratch, or click Load to duplicate an existing Foto Master preset.
- Give the preset a clear name.
- Optionally add a description and tags to make it easier to find later.
- Click Save.
Your preset is now stored in your Cloud preset library and can be used for future events.
Best Practices for Creating Presets
- Use clear, descriptive names -- Include the event type and key features in the name so you can quickly identify the preset later.
Example:
Wedding AI Glam Booth
Corporate Headshot Event
Birthday 360 Video Preset - Create category-specific presets -- Build separate presets for different event types, such as weddings, corporate events, birthdays, school events, and brand activations.
- Keep a "base" preset -- Create one standard preset with your most commonly used settings. Duplicate it whenever you need a variation instead of starting from scratch.
- Include your preferred AI settings -- If you regularly use AI features, save your preferred AI setup as part of your preset so you do not need to configure it manually for every event.
- Customize per event when needed -- For one-time event changes, such as changing an overlay, sponsor logo, or event name, you can edit the assigned template without rebuilding the full preset.
Tip: If you frequently customize presets for individual events, consider using templates instead. See Load Preset vs. Load Template to understand the difference.
Managing Your Presets
From the Presets section in Foto Master Cloud, you can:
- Browse all your saved presets.
- Preview a preset to see its workflow and layout before applying it.
- Edit a preset to update its configuration.
- Duplicate a preset to create a variation without modifying the original.
- Delete presets you no longer need.
- Share presets with team members. See Sharing FMX Workflows and Presets.
